Privacy Policy
Last updated: June 2026
Ody Hop ("we", "us", "our") is a gamified tourism platform that connects travelers with destinations, badges, and local tour operators. This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, who we share it with, and the rights you have over your data.
This policy applies to the Ody Hop mobile app, the website at odyhop.com, and any related services we offer.
Information we collect
When you use Ody Hop, we collect the following types of information:
- Account data: your email address, a hashed password (managed by Supabase Auth), display name, and account type (tourist or operator).
- Profile data: optional avatar photo, country, and trip preferences you choose to share.
- Location data: GPS coordinates collected only during active badge claiming — never in the background. We use these coordinates to verify that you are physically at the badge location, and we do not retain the raw coordinates after verification.
- Photos: photos you submit to claim badges are stored in Supabase Storage. These photos may be visible to other users in badge galleries. By submitting a photo, you grant Ody Hop a license to display it within the platform.
- Operator data: business name, contact information, bio, certifications, service areas, pricing, photos, and social links submitted by tour operators are displayed publicly in the guide marketplace.
- Operator application data: every field of the partner application form is stored in our database for review and record-keeping.
- Usage data: app interactions, badge collection history, points earned, and leaderboard position.
- Payment data: payments are processed by Stripe. Ody Hop does not store credit card numbers or bank account details. Stripe's privacy policy governs payment processing.
- Voice and audio data: the Tico Translator feature streams audio to xAI's API for real-time translation. Ody Hop does not retain this audio. xAI's privacy policy governs audio processing.
How we use data
We use the information we collect to:
- Operate and improve the service, including badge verification, leaderboards, and bookings.
- Connect tourists with tour operators inside badge cards.
- Process bookings and calculate commissions on completed experiences.
- Send transactional emails such as booking confirmations, account notices, and application status updates.
- Produce aggregate analytics about platform usage. We do not sell individual tracking data to third parties.
Data sharing
We share data only as needed to operate the service:
- Tour operators see the tourist's name and booking details once a booking is confirmed.
- Other users see your display name, badge count, and leaderboard position.
- We do not sell personal data to third parties.
- We use the following service providers, each governed by their own privacy policy: Supabase (database and authentication), Stripe (payments), xAI (translation), Vercel (website hosting), and Apple and Google (app distribution).
Data retention
We retain data only as long as needed for the service:
- Account data is retained while your account is active.
- You can request account deletion at any time by emailing privacy@odyhop.com.
- Operator application data is retained for two years after rejection. Approved operators' data is retained for as long as the account is active.
- Badge claim photos are retained indefinitely unless you request deletion.
Children's privacy
Ody Hop is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal data from anyone under 13. If you believe we have collected data from a child, please contact us at privacy@odyhop.com and we will delete it.
Cookies (website)
Our website uses a minimal set of cookies:
- Authentication session cookies — strictly functional, required to keep operators signed in to the dashboard.
- We do not use advertising or third-party tracking cookies.
- We do not use analytics cookies in the current version of the site.

You have the right to:
- Access, correct, or delete your personal data.
